Dirt Devil Central Vac Bag

I agree with Chuck. The hose between the vacuum and the wall inlet is free and clear in our Dirt Devil system as well. No "grate" or other obstructing object.

Working Great!

Chuck and Hugh were right. My "grate" turned out to be a large paper clip lodged in one of the ells. My shop vac pulled it out along with even more hair / carpet fibers that had become entangled. I put it all back together and it works great now.

I bought a handy-dandy implement pack for $8 at Northern Tool. It had a telescoping magnet, a magnetic bowl (for keeping screws / bolts handy), and best of all, a little dentist-type telescoping mirror. That's how I knew that there was still a wad of debris down there, even though I didn't know it was caused by a paper clip until it came out.

Dirt Devil Central Vac Bag

Great to hear about your successful resolution of the suction problem! The magnet/dentist-type mirror implement pack is definitely cheaper than a fibre optic camera! Well done!!
Thanks for the update.
