Well we have plans to head out in a few days.. But the road is rough.. Lots of washouts a few rather big.. 10 ft wide 12" deep..
Aid a local guy to drag the road.. But still doesn't look good enough.. I'm going to go out and rent a Bobcat... Question is there some known hard fast way to know if the road is passable....

I have a Newmar MA 40 ft DP ... Really don't want to pay to have 1/2 mile of bad road grade...just to have a few of the neighbors destroy it again..

I presume you have a tow car so drive that through a couple of times and try to get a feel for how much it sinks into the sand. If it pretty well stays on top you might be OK but that's your call. I've done this in AZ and once out of six times I hung up the RV and had to have a neighbor pull me out with a big tractor.

It's not going to sink...it's dry.. I'm mostly worried about getting high centered on frame or damaging the side draw radiator..Concerned when the front comes up out of the hole and the back goes down...I can get by in my f150 and the wife's sienna... But would like to figure out a way to measure clearance enforce I pull onto the rode ."

slightly off target but do you have slide issues after driving the dirt road. I have a 1/2 mile road with potholes not so large as you and am constantly worried about the slides coming out of adjustment.

I've been doing our road for quite a while. I use a Kubota compact tractor and a 7' landscape rake set at 45 degrees. The rake at 45 degrees prevents you from creating moguls, and allows dirt from the sides to be pulled into the middle to help form a "crown" that helps prevent puddles from forming (water runs to the sides). No puddles = no washouts (large pot holes) created when morons just blast though them.

I can do 100yds or so of fairly hard/road gravel base road that's pretty tore up in about an hour.

Something that's got a large washout might take a little more time and different plan of attack.

Never had an issue on the road... Did have an issue at a CG and a very un level site...pulled in slides and the reveal was way off... Moved to the main road pulled all the slides back out and brought them back in... Everything worked out fine... I will never pull the slides out again if I can't level.... Also my Mountaine Aire has the hydraulic locks so the slides don't move much ..

Hey we have 2 miles of dusty gravel to Traverse just to get to the highway. Our 2005 Journey has done fine but we go about 5mph...we have a Safe Plus installed and I've actually gotten out and watched to make sure it doesn't drag. Not to many pot holes just lots of dust. We are trading for a 2006 Holiday Rambler Navigator next week. Still plan to drive 5mph!!!
