Discovery, Journey or Phaeton?
Looking at three coaches;
2002 Tiffin Phaeton 38' $55k, 41,000 miles.
2002 Winnebago Journey DL, 36' $55k, 39,000 miles
2001 Fleetwood Discovery 37' $54k, 42,000 miles
All have Cat 7.2 liter / Allison six speed
All have diesel generator
Discovery has recent tires & batteries
Journey needs a new sofa
Phaeton appears to need nothing, but has old tires.
Discovery is 200 miles away
Journey is 2100 miles away
Phaeton is 2300 miles away
Obviously, it's a gamble spending the time & cash to go look at the Journey & Phaeton, plus cost to bring home. We already flew to Portland to look at a coach that was not as advertised...
Opinions???

Slides, floor plans, do you need pass through storage?

Each has two slides. Each floor plan is fine. No need for pass thru storage. We will be primarily using it to tow a 16' race car trailer with either a Triumph GT6 or dirt bikes in it. Mostly three day trips, no long trips planned.

It's possible that a member of this board would be close enough to do an inspection for you. Ask for volunteers and then PM the location info and items you would like them to check.
Good luck.

I may have talked myself into a job, I'm about 60 miles out of Mobile and if nobody else is closer I'll do it for you.

phaeton phaeton phaeton...we have been shopping motorhomes for 6 years. we have a winnebago that we love however in upgrading we have chosen a tiffin product. after going to red bay alabama where tiffins are built and after meeting bob tiffin (the owner) and hearing endless stories from his customers about how well he takes care of everyone of them most often personally it the best knowledge that we can obtain. we will be trtaveling many miles for ours as soon as our house sells and allows us to purchase our tiffin product...finally. discovery is nice, dont feel as though the quality is as good as tiffin. journey is nice but only 3 slides. we have done so much investigating on those 3 coaches as well...good luck

Thanks a bunch, Del! The seller will be expecting you, and has been asked to assist in anything you need.
I'm from California, but have a feeling that Del is a true Southern Gentleman...

A true southern gentleman will always hold the door open for his wife as she carries in the groceries.

........Dell, you left out part of it...........a true gentleman and a scholar!!! Enjoy your trip. BTW, welcome to IRV2, hope Dell has some good news for you soon. As a side note, from your information, I see that the Discovery probably needs the least, so I just checked NADA for pricing, as follows: New it was $143K
low retail 43K
high retail 55K
Hope this helps in your decision, and good luck. Keep us posted.
David G.
