Dishwasher retrofit?

There have been a number of discussion recently around dishwashers in MH's ... I have seen them often in new units, and I have no doubt that if we had one it would be well used (I do most of the cooking, and generate a LOT of dishes .

My MH currently has a combination oven/stove top. The units I have seen with the dishwasher have a gas stove-top only, with the dishwasher installed beneath it. As we have not once used the gas oven, I am considerring doing a retro-fit pulling the old oven/top combo and installing the dishwasher with a stove-top above it. Has anyone done this, and what were your experiences (good and bad)??

I would say, go for it. I would love a DW, however we would lose too much cabinet space, you don't have that problem. When you look at cook tops consider induction or a gas unit with automatic ignition, like residential units.

Check out Voltdoc's post in the owners section of jayco/entegra under the "Tell us about your modifications" thread. Post #704. Tell others about your modifications. He didn't have an oven to remove but looks like the same principle. I want to try this at some point.

I would be one happy camper if I could trade the oven for a dishwasher! The only thing the oven is used for is storage. The micro is also a convection so the oven is a waste. Of course, I have brought up this idea to dh. Someday!

I also have given it some thought but we probably wouldn't use a dish washer much because we normally use paper plates and plastic cups.

As a matter of fact, I am waiting for someone to come out with paper pots and pans. That would make clean up really easy for me. LOL!!

I agree with Ya all.....first chance I get I am swapping out my oven for a fisher - paykel dishwasher. We only use it for storage. Any one want a good deal on a new, never used Atwood High Output oven.......

A lot of the people we've talked to use the dishwasher to store the pots and pans. We've decided we wouldn't use one enough to lose the storage space.
