Massachusetts to Texas

Well, I can finally add to this thread! DH is currently driving back to Massachusetts from near Dallas, TX with our new coach. So that's 1800 miles. The price was what sold it for us. There was one closer to us, but for 8,500 less, the flight to TX and drive back was worth it.

We flew from CT to Orlando to make our first purchase. Saved about 20K compared to local prices. Alot more competition down south.

What did ya'll do for service after the sale? I believe in getting the best deal for my $$$, but I want to have warranty service also. Will the local dealer (that you did not buy from) do warranty service work? I am close enough to dealers in Texas and Florida that have great deals.

Reubenray, are you talking about new warranty or used? As mentioned earlier I the thread we purchased our used class A in VA and drove it back to Texas. The deal I made with that dealer is that anything major that I found wrong on the coach we would negotiate a deal on local repair in Texas (50/50). I was not worried since I can do almost any repair except transmission myself. Lucky for us nothing major was identified and did not have to contact the dealer.

Please note that I had the luxury of going through the coach and giving them a punch list of items to be repaired (cracked windshield, broken blind cord, broken drawer latch, etc...and gave them 2 weeks to complete the punch list before I picked up the coach and drove back to Texas. Everything was completed at no additional charge (negotiated) and they actually fixed a couple of other things that I was not too worried about (adjusted cabinet door, etc...)

The warranty question was concerning a new motorhome purchase.

Similar savings here. Upstate NY to Tampa to pick up our 40' DP. Got tired of looking at ones up here with salt damage, or storage outside in winter. 1275 miles and no problems on drive back.

Same here, flew from Pittsburgh to Clearwater to buy my Winnebago DP. Nothing close in price around here, was well worth the trip.Did some preventative maintenance, drove home 1100 miles with no issues.
