Diy & esp?

DH will do a some of the maintenance on our coach and we're wondering if that would give an extended warranty carrier a way out of a claim.

For those that change the oil & replace filters and do some of the other maintenance, how to you prove it's been done?

Has anyone had a claim denied because the work hadn't been done at a commercial garage?

Keep a log book/file showing the dates & mileage when routine maintenance was done and back it up with receipts for oil, filters, etc.

I've filed five claims and never had anyone even ask about maintenance.

Keep your receipts for oil & filter purchases & record the mileage/date you did maintenance.

Thanks for the information. Looks like I'll need a file system.

Sometimes they will ask about maintenance if the claim is for an "internally lubricated part" on an engine or tranny. Best to be prepared, even if the chances are slim.

Be sure to use the recommended oils & filters also. The little you save on cheap oil & filters isn't worth it if you end up paying for a $20,000.00 repair bill.

If you're saving your receipts be aware that the receipts that are printed with a thermal printer will fade away in a few months, leaving you with a greyish piece of paper where a receipt used to be...

X2 for all the replies. It will also add some value at the time of sale as well.
