Do TPMS sensors get stolen often
I'm thinking of adding a TPMS system to my tag axle Entegra and possibly my toad. I have been looking at TST, TireMinder, and others. Many of these have "theft deterrent" sensors. Has anybody had sensors stolen? In my naive opinion I think RV-ers are pretty honest and I hope this is a rare thing. Do I need sensors with the special wrench to remove? I think I want ones easy to remove for adding air and I'm concerned the flow thru kind will stick out or interfere with my hubs, and I'm especially concerned about those long sensors on my 4x4 Wrangler getting ripped off on a rock.

Over the years that I've run a Newmar specific site I've only heard (seen posted) one case. Owner went to bed and the alarm went off. He turned the monitor off an figured he'd check the tires in the morning. He found some of the sensors had "walked off". Other than that one instance I don't know of any and I used to be a PressurePro Distributor/dealer so it's not real common.

I have/had both types of sensors. None were ever stolen, but I'm not taking any chances. They'll steal anything these days. You want to get rid of some junk, just put it near the street with a price on it. No price and it will sit. Put a price on it and it will be gone. I currently have the flow thru and they don't stick out too far for my MH or 20' enclosed. The TST ones I have a use a set screw for security. The non-flow thru used a special tool to secure them.
If you go off-roading, don't use them or take them off temporarily. You can also get angled valve stems.

We don't tempt fate, so we take them off when the moho is in the storage facility. Other than that, we don't worry about them in campgrounds and such.

I have TST on the MH. When at home the MH is parked on our property behind locked gates. I don't use them on the Jeep - due to being damaged when off-roading. Have thought about getting a set for when in tow/transit and then removing when going off-roading. But has not gotten past the thought stage.

I have taken the anti-theft covers off our TST sensors, they are a hassle and if someone is that needy they will just rip them off the stem anyway. If I have one stolen I will report back here but after a couple years no problem.

If you are going with TST, Call Mike. I gave him 8 of my used ones.

May I ask why you gave them to him?
Not a good product?
Just wondering because I will be ordering a TPMS soon.
Thank you!

What comes around, goes around. Dan has comped me and other customers with his products. They worked fine. I just found some money marked "extra" and bought the flow-thru type.

I'm still trying to figure out why you need a TPMS...? If I were a thief, I couldn't think of anything I'd be less tempted to steal...!
