I share your views about the steering wheel being obtrusive while set up. We got around that by purchasing a "wheel topper" which is a round table top designed to attach to the steering wheel of a DP when the wheel is flipped into the near horizontal position. It provides a level table for us at our entry door. We cover it with a table cloth and have a little lamp that sits on it making it look "almost" like home.

I HAD to put a top on the steering wheel. With seven cats in the MH and them jumping on the steering wheel at 2:00 AM I had to do SOMETHING about it!! Those are horns are LOUD at that time of night!!

Must be some great stories buried in that fact. I can't imagine waking up to the sound of my own air horn in the middle of the night at some CG.

I probably must also point out the fact that I wrench for a living and if I had to pay someone to keep the coach or the rest of our vehicles/toys up to my standards I definately could not afford it. My wife have made that comment many of times about how fortunate we are that I can fix all of our vehicles ourselves. She is very thankful when she hears people she works with talk about how much they spend to have one thing or another repaired.

On the other hand I probably spend more money on some things than I need to because I am always modifying or over-maintaining our vehicles.

Mike.

We bought a 11 year old DP. We were able to pay cash, and we love it. The other day there was a thread on a new Itasca, it had a great floor plan with a bath and 1/2. Private bath in the rear off bedroom. If I could afford that, I would do it in a heartbeat! I will make no pretense that I have all I need now. I've been drooling over the tube video, but that is what dreams are made of right?

If you can't have a dream, what is the point?

7 cats! That would make me uncomfortable regardless of how expensive the motorhome is! lol

Had a wonderful camping this weekend 30 minutes from home. Grandson loved the pool, bicycling, and the whole camping experience. Was enjoying the OK heat, when a brand new MH pulled in beside us pulling a Hummer. We were feeling pretty proud until then but it doesn't take but one or two of those to humble you somewhat. The people were very nice - just passing through. In retrospect - there were MH's, Fifth Wheels, and TT's of all shapes, sizes, and models - everyone just enjoying themselves. Love the RV life.

A few years back I was camping in my TT and noticed a young couple setting up camp with a tent. It looked like their first time as they struggled a bit... After Dark, they left the lamp on (white tent w/ blue accents) and gave everyone a show I don't know if they did that on purpose but needless to say, I was very jealous of that tent laugh:

Now thats a very nice story
But back to the question at hand........
I realized that I would feel uncomfortble in an expensive Motorhome. I'm afraid I would be looking at the back up camera all the time then checking and re checking my mirrors. Trying to stay off main roads where people could see me. Always concerned about obeying the speed limit and any local laws that I would fall under. In addition to just being terrorfied just driving such a fancy Motorhome, my other major concern would be how many years could I get for............................................... .................................................. .................................................. ...................... Grand Theft Auto ?
