When the temps are high enough the only time ours is not on, is if the progressive surge unit detects low voltage and shuts down.

Running your AC compressor with low voltage will shorten its life.

Run both is no problem. Be sure to wash filters every couple of weeks though.

In high humidity, I run my fan on HIGH to keep the coils from freezing.

We generally are in warm/hot places and travel with a dog, so yes, it's on 24x7 . AGS is setup to start should park power go out.

I’m cheep and don’t want a high electric bill so I turn mine off at night. I do run it all day. My friends from Palm Springs but are now full time run theirs 24/7 because his wife wants it that way. When I volunteered in the Outer Banks of SC for the NPS summer of 2017 I did run mine 24/7 but the electric was free. I had to replace all 3 units on a 2 year old RV by the end of summer. Good thing I had an extended warranty. Not sure if running 24/7 in a high humid area was the cause of the failure.

More likely the cause of the failure was running AC on a low voltage supplied by the campground.

Several times a year, my EMS will cut power because the campground feed has dropped below 104 volts. Most of the campers have no clue the voltage has dropped and keep running their AC.

Yep. No different than the AC in my house.

In those temps its going to have a hard time however, especially because its soo dry. If this is a regular thing and you are uncomfortable an RV swamp cooler (evaporative cooler) might be worthy of consideration.

Same here, and south Alabama has it's share of heat and humidity, so the unit just keeps chugging and keeps the coach at 78 all summer long.

Also in Palm Springs area in Aug, Sep 2019.
Shut it off? Are you kidding? 100 at 10pm, 85 at 6 am. 110-117 during the day, and no clouds. Bill could be $200, so what...
Run 3 A/Cs. One on low speed full time set on 75, one on auto set to 80, 3rd one occasionally comes on when temp goes above 85 inside. 2 fans run in afternoons. 41' DP.

The winning answer! If one turns off the AC, opens windows. The result is everything soft inside absorbs ambient humidity. When AC is restarted it must first work to lower that humidity level before it can cool efficiently.

When in an extremely hot area, we alternate front and back, or sometimes use both (assuming we have 50 amp power). However, we don't let them run on auto, but have the fan(s) going all of the time - - lets the compressor have rest periods but keeps air moving. You can run at a higher temperature if you have the air moving. When really hot we also have small fans directed right at where we are sitting.

We try not to be in this type of hot weather for days at a time - usually just when passing through an area. And we usually find that overnight we can just open up and keep fans running and sleep.
