I usually pull our's in. In the southern desert states I've gone to bed too many times only to have the wind come up after midnight, then have to get up to retract it.

Me thinks most sensible RVers put their patio awnings away at might and when they leave the RV.
However those that have money to burn can afford to be lazy.

BTW, I have on occasion rolled in "manual awnings" on other RVs when the weather turned bad but I could not save any "electrically operated" awnings.
