I've learned a lot from you guys and I thank you one and all.

Dr. Q do you happen to know what the major changes are of the RV version?

One thing that has surprised me is the lack of negative comments. A GPS is an important item when traveling to new places. And one taking you down a dead end road with a 10' high bridge is worthy of mention? The lack of these comments is important as it is refreshing!

The other thing we've not heard is its hard to use and/or frustrating to set up! All good news and now to find it's been upgraded so much the better.

Thanks again for making this an informative thread. I think I'm ready to make a purchase!

I use the premium version with the RV setting of CoPilot, and for extra measures, I have my TomTom running along.

I use CoPilot for several years now, and still like it a lot!

Howdy!

We fulltime RV and I started using Co-Pilot app years ago when I had a old Garmin that required yearly updates and I could not update it with lifetime maps updates and was advised I needed to buy a new Garmin. I started with the Preminum app version at that time only cost $4.99. I used it on my Samsung tablet and android phone. We purchased a new Toy Hauler RV that was 13'4" tall so I had upgrade my Co-Pilot to the Truck verision (never consider another stand alone GPS). The truck Verizon worked well for us. A few months ago we completely switched our phone service from Verizion to AT&T and in doing so we went from android to Apple (phones and tablets). I then started using the Co-Pilot RV app which I like better than the Truck version.

Do you use CoPilot RV or CoPilot Truck?

I did as well and then it wouldn't work. Had to run the first leg of our fall trip using my iPhone and Google maps. Last night I had to delete the app and download again. Lost all my trip files in the process. Not happy with Copilot support as they were less than useless. Up until this last "upgrade" I was happy with the app, now looking around for a replacement app.

I deleted and downloaded again the update on my iPhone 6 Plus. My iPad updated with out any deleting.

All my saved destinations data was still there on the iPhone. Only I want to delete some of the saved ones. And I can't figure out how. Only setting I found was to clear all of them. But that is not what I want to do.

It was easy to do on the last version.

I am transitioning from PC to Android and I am testing with my smartphone. I had to remove the previous free version of CoPilot to install the maps for the RV version. The RV version does not use the Free version maps. Probably something to do with folder locations being assigned to an App.

Not quite the screen info we have been used to compared to the PC version. Creating routes a little different. We have learned through each version of CoPilot from 2003 to date that there are changes in each version but from the big picture, the results are the same.

I just downloaded the new RV version and everything seemed to fall into place just fine. I deleted the free version before downloading but I didn't have a bunch of saves addresses. I can see that being a kick in the old fern!

I'm looking for a QuickStart guide and/or manual showing how to best use it. Has anyone found anything like that?

One thing I haven't figured out is how to name an address like Bill's home, VA hospital etc.

They're talking about a phone with GPS. Most smart phones have it built in.

Take a look at Sygic.com.

We have used for about 4 years, one fee, 4 devices.

They all have quirks and customer service is chancy, probably because at these prices they depend on volumes of customers and the variety of hardware can cause unique issues that a dedicated Garmin machine would not encounter.

The App Store RV version stills shows an update date of March 23. Where did you get the update?

I don't see a new version. I've been happy so far. Purchased in April. Only issue is background navigation doesn't work.

Cool

Oh boy....I might have misled everyone.

I have the Co-Pilot USA Premium version, which gives me the ability to tell the software I'm driving an RV... It allows me to put in the height of the RV and warns me of low clearances or routes me around those. It also allows me to input propane and will guide me around roads where that is an issue. There are no inputs for RV weight in the software.

Therefore, I'm guessing I don't have the RV specific version of the software.

Sorry, if I misled anyone on this one....

I downloaded the RV version yesterday and you can enter all things pertaining to the RV including weight. You can also switch between RV, Car, Walking etc. I didn't know that was part of the system and it's great!

Unfortunately, they limited RV weight to a ridiculously low 26K lbs. even though their truck version doesn't have this limitation.

I was hoping there was a new RV version (there's not yet) and that it addressed a couple of Copilot's major faults. Here are my top three:

1. Voice navigation through a secondary device (Bluetooth for instance) clips off the first couple of syllables. So instead of hearing "in 22.8 miles take exit 27" you'll hear "8 miles take exit 27". Of course the map and directions on the screen are correct, but the voice nav is there to make looking at the screen unnecessary. I use Copilot on an iPad mirrored through AppleTV to my front overhead TV so this is a major irritation for me. The Copilot people know this is an issue and promised a fix in the next release.

2. Copilot presents a constant litany of voice commands like "stay on I75 as US 27 splits off". Only other interstates split off from interstates, everything else is an exit and shouldn't be voiced. I've had times when there are so many of these while traveling on an interstate that I've turned off the sound.

3. It's not at all unusual for Copilot to incorrectly voice "turn right to go east on US 31" even though the map and roads signs show a left turn. I'm not sure how this happens but it does far too frequently. I've started keeping a log of these errors.
