Does any Class A Diesel owner have experience renting their unit?
We have a 2010 Newmar Ventana 42' diesel pusher motorhome that we are thinking about making available for renting. Have any of you had experience doing that? I am interested in hearing both good and bad experiences. Also, how successful were you?
Thank You,
Clyde

Oh God No . . . We did that ONCE. What a nightmare. Came back with cracked dash. Your insurance probably won't cover any damages due to it being rented out.

Never considered it. Would not rent it/loan it to our kids let alone complete strangers who may or may not have the skills to maintain a complex machine.

20 Years ago we did it, 3 years - NEVER AGAIN - the only one happy is the renting party and they usually did more damage than you can pay for in each and every rental.
Not a SMART IDEA... ... ... ...

No, and not only no....BUT HELL NO.
A junky, beat up rig used only for deep woods boondockng, leaky roof, oil burning, sputtering, men only ....rig. Maybe, if the price was right.

I would never consider renting out our MH, no matter gas or diesel. We don't even let our kids take it out alone, as there are too many things that can/will go wrong if somebody does not use it properly. Check with your insurance, but I'm pretty sure they will not cover you if you use it as a rental, and if they do it would be a whole different policy and most likely pretty costly.

Suggest you check out some of these videos to get the idea of a renter's state of mind:

I would not.
But, if you do, be sure you have a very carefully written rental agreement and rental fees and substantial deposit before they leave. Call insurance to be sure the MH covered. This applies even for friends.

Remember what Robin Williams did to the motorhome in the movie? You don't want anyone trying to do that to yours, do you?

I'm getting the impression the sentiment is a little negative here. In addition to the above concerns, I would not do it as there is just too much too know about each rig for a stranger (or family member) to be able to handle any issues.
