Does Anyone Really Drink Water from Their On Board Water Tanks?

Hello Again...

I know how to clean my water tanks, etc.

My question is: Does anyone really drink the water in their on board tanks unless it is a last resort? Or to clean your vegtables?

Personally, I stick to bottled water for everything unless I have no other options...which has yet to happen.

Just curious as to what other ways you get your drinking water.

Thanks All!

Opinions will vary. We never drank from or used the tank water for washing vegetables. Then again we rarely were without a city hook up and then we filtered that water.

I do both all the time by choice. Unless I am in an area with some kind of water problem buying bottled water is an expensive affectation. It is usually no better and sometimes worse than what comes out of the tap. The exception is when some minerals are in high concentration.

Never thought much about it, but when we don't have city water hookup we always drink water from the tank and rarely use bottle water.

I drink coffee made from the tank water, does that count. We keep 2 gallons of bottled water, in case the tank runs out. Never been hooked to city water, just keep filling the tank.

We do not drink the water from the coach, always use bottled. Except for Harley, the chocolate lab

I keep my tank nearly full all the time and use the water regularly. Water from the tank goes through the same 2 filters as the shore water. Drinking water goes through a final filter in the galley. 8 years full time. I have never understood RVers reluctance to use the fresh water tank. We rarely buy bottled water.

We regularly drink water from our freshwater tank, but through a high-quality carbon block filter! I trust it much more the the bottled water!

My Coach's water system is always sanitized and maintained, 2 whole house filters for the incoming water, city/tank, and another filter w/separate spout for drinking water........water has always been fine to drink and to give veggies a bath.........

We don't know of anyone that doesn't. That's why you sanitize the system. You put potable water in so why not drink it?
BTW: I've been doing this since I started RV'ing in 1957 with no known problems but I also drank from black water hoses and I'm still alive!

One never knows what is lurking in other's pipes.....
My first inline whole house filter has a clear bowl, so I can see what is going in.......As you can see, the filter(50 micron string) is dirty, and this was at a high end resort. Filter was new and white when we arrived there, this was at the end of a 2 week visit.
