there seems to be a lot of speculation. It could be something simple. I had an oil leak. When I first noticed it I had been driving on roads that they were repairing. I assumed that was what I saw. I cleaned the flap and then the next time I drove it there was oil on the flap. I took it to a freightliner dealer and they found a minor oil leak. I believe it was something like a connection that was not tight. It could be something as easy as that or a major problem Ask to take the vehicle to a freightliner repair shop. Tell them you are thinking about buying this unit and ask them if they can check out where the leak is and give you an estimate. You might have to pay a minor amount to find out what the repair cost will be but you can then make an informed decision. I do not agree that this automatically means the unit was not maintained properly
