Does RV need to be level if Refrig is running on electricity?

Newbie question (again). We are preparing to go camping. Rv is on the street in front of our home while we get ready for our trip.
My question is, can I run the refrig on electricity (running generator) while the RV is not level? Street has a downward slope - more than I can level the RV and keep front wheels on the ground.
Thank you!

Yes, it needs to be fairly level whether on AC or LPG. Also, I strongly recommend you get the ARP protection device so there is no danger of damaging your fridge.

No, unless you have a residential fridge, and then it depends. Rv absorption fridge should always be leveled for operation on gas or electrical.

Thank you for the quick answers. Guess I will use a cooler until we get to the RV Park. Any other suggestions?

HEAT is HEAT regardless of HOW it is generated.........
OFF Level operation 'disrupts' the natural gravity flow of the COOLANT
When coolant flow is disrupted 'OVERHEATING' can occur (takes less then 20 minutes)
Overheating occurs whether the heat source is Electric Element or Propane Flame (Both generate virtually same amount of heat which is necessary to boil the ammonia into a vapor)

OFF LEVEL OPERATION..........DO NOT DO IT>

My Norcold 1200 won't come on if the the Rv is not close to level. Learned this last month as I spent 1-2 hours trying to get the control panel to come on. Couldn't understand why sometimes it seemed like it had no power. Moved the coach to a different spot and it came right on.

Yes, the refer needs to be level when stationary whether on gas or electric. Some have reported problems even after parking for as little as an hour when not level.

Yes. Reasonably level should be ok. I think the books says something like "comfortable"

Mr-D, you mentioned “when stationary”. Does that mean you may leave the refrig on when traveling? Thank you!

The manual states, and I'm paraphrasing here, that the normal ups and downs of traveling is okay to operate the unit, but it should be level while parked.

We leave ours on all of the time, gas or electric mode.

They say if you can comfortably walk in the RV, you are level enough to run the fridge.

You can also level the MH with the levelers, that's what they put them in to do. I've seen hundreds of MHs with the front wheels off the ground.
Read your book and you will see something like "Do not work or go under MH with wheels off the ground ".

It doesn’t have to be perfectly level .. I was told if you can’t/ wouldn’t sleep in it it’s too far out of level .

They say damage to the unit can occur from overheating even from parking too unlevel for a short period of time. If you stop at a roadside even for a short period, try not to park too far out of level, or turn off the fridge. If the heat cant escape properly, it can overheat, and cause damage to fridge. This can shorten the life expectancy of the fridge, and possibly create a fire hazard.
