I'll disagree a little here.....I've had a DP with and without Comfort Steer. ANY coach being pushed by 20 mph or 30 mph side winds is going to cause you to steer into them to keep the coach going straight. Yes, it may be manageable, but it still causes the driver to work harder and that wears on you at the end of the day.

The difference with Comfort Steer is that it's doing the work for you. You don't know there is a 20mph - 30mph wind until you park the coach and step outside.

When TRW first released their Column Drive, Newmar got an exclusive on it and used the name Comfort Drive for their coaches. When the exclusive expired, and TRW would not renew, Newmar went to Spartan and Freightliner and got exclusives from them. So no one else using Spartan or FL chassis can have the feature. Newell builds their own chassis, so they can use the technology. They call it EZ-Steer, as I recall. If Foretravel also builds their own, they can use it as well.

Entegra or Tiffen can't use it if they're building on Spartan or FL until that exclusive contract expires. I don't know when that is.

Tiffen builds their own Powerglide chassis for many of their models. Only their top end models use Spartan or Freightliner. Yet they do not have Comfort Drive, even on the Powerglide chassis models.

You are probably correct, however when we got this coach with a tag axle and IFS, there was a big difference from our 40' non-tag coach. I'm sure I have to correct more than someone with the CD, but it really is not much of an effort. It is even better when we tow our 26' enclosed trailer which is most of the time. The trailer must have some kind of stabilizing affect much like how pulling a trailer with a motorcycle does. I'm sure CD is a nice feature, but just not something I have a big need for.

Not exactly. In fact, "most" of the coaches built by Tiffin are on FCCC, but they have recently expanded their Powerglide chassis production facility and are adding it as an option on some Phaeton models previously available only on FCCC.
FWIW, I think the TRW system would make the PG chassis even MORE appealing than it already is. I'm guessing the additional cost is the primary reason it has not yet been available on the Allegro Bus / PG combo.

Getting back to Quincybears original question, No, Tiffin does not have the Comfort (aka Column) Drive, nor anything like it. While Comfort Drive does include an assist for centering the wheel, in my opinion it would be real stretch to claim that Saf-T-Plus or even TruCenter was similar in capability. On the other hand, I'm not sure that what Comfort Drive does add is of any great value if the chassis is already well-designed and suitable for the size of coach built on it. I have neither CD nor any the other products on my DP and have driven as much as 550 miles without any concern for steering effort or stress. However, I can see where any of these might be of some benefit in a severe cross wind situation.

There is some hands-on feedback about Comfort Drive here:

I never give an opinion on what I have a need for until I've actually tried it.

I'm not trying to argue brands. The fact of the matter is.....if Tiffin had offered a tag in a 40' coach in 2014, I would probably be a Tiffin Allegro Bus owner.
