DogHouse Insulation Done

Finally got to re-insulating the MH doghouse. The factory insulation had fallen off and was laying on the engine so it was well past time to change it. The hardest part was cleaning off the remnants of the old stuff. It looked like some kind of foil backed foam and the foam part was gooey. Lots and lots of goo gone and elbow grease took care of it.

I thought Dynamat was a bit over priced so after some research I chose Thermo-Guard from Thermo-Tec. A 4x6 piece cost me 51 bucks and was enough to do the entire doghouse and have some leftover.

I used Loctite spray adhesive that is water and heat proof. Man when the pieces come together, that stuff holds. I finished the edges with zome 3M foil tape just because. We're doing a 3 day trip this weekend so I'll see how it does. It's got to be better than it was.

Here's a couple of pics.

Looks like it was done at the factory. Give yourself a pat on the back for me.

Thanks,
Tim

Did mine the exact same way about two years ago. Now my doghouse is bare no carpet and it barely gets warms and can't hear it idling.

I have never looked under our doghouse and don't know what Newmar did but our coach is as quiet as it could be. There is NO comparison to the level of noise we had with our Fleetwood Bounder on the Ford chassis. You couldn't hear yourself think.

Just back from the weekend trip. It was worth doing. Much quieter now and my dogs can lay on the doghouse without cinging their fur! No heat to the touch at all.

All I could find locally was Dynamat at 3x the cost. I found the Thermo-Guard at

This is a great job!. My New Vacationer has nothing installed and sounds like I'm sitting beside the engine.

Can you list the steps you took to install insulation please. Pimarily the adhesive.. Was it done in one shot or did you do it in stages?

Cheers
Scotty
