Hello,

As I prepared the coach for the Memorial weekend trip coming up, I found that the fridge won't come on in GAS mode. The "check" light kept coming on. We took the Rv out to the beach last weekend and it was working fine, any ideas, please?

You have turned on the gas at refer and have a good battery. The gas line may have air in line run stove to elimiate most of the air may require some restarts until air is removed. Also check gas tube to burner could have cob webs or spider in tube, clean out tube.
Have you tried to run generator and run refer on electric?

Sounds like you may have rust flakes on the top of the burner tube. Older Dometics do this all the time. You don't say how old your RV is?
Open the outside door to the back of the fridge. Remove the baffel covering the burner. Have someone reset the fridge onto propane. You watch to see it the spark happens. If it does look on top of the burner tube under the igniter for rust flakes and/or particles. Clean them off. Try to relight the fridge again. If it lights your problem is solved. Directly above the flame is the bottom of the flue tube. Place the tip of a flat blade screwdriver against the bottom of the tube and give it several sharp raps with a small hammer on the handle of the screwdriver. More rust should appear. Now you are good for about a year -- without the problem.

Hope this solves your problem.

While your rapping the burner tube cover the gas tube burner slots with a paper towel so rust particals do not fall into slots of tube.

I'm responding on Memorial Day weekend so, I hope you've solved your problem.

Are you aware that there is a recall on many Dometics? There is a problem with the gas side. Go to: http://www.dometicusa.com/recall.php?# and check your model and serial #.

Thats a yearly thing on my list of do's before the trip. You can remove the burner after shutting off the gas and find a set of spray air gun brushes. I got mine from Harbor Freight, It came as a set of different sized brushes. I push it into the burner and clean it out and reinstall after I brush the flue tube out. My two way is about 15 years old I think. Anyway,I do this once a year to keep ours working well, Capt. Dan
