Dometic Bay storage freezer

My wife seems to think that she would like to have a Dometic cooler that is in the storage bay. For those who have them, what are your opinions?

Thanks!

Do you actually mean the freezer/cooler combo? I didn't have a Dometic, but used an Edgestar freezer on one of my slide trays for 6yrs. of full timing. We always used it, especially in Alaska to keep all the Salmon we caught. The better half would shop sales on meats to stock the freezer.

Indispensable. We use it all the time, but only rarely as a freezer. Most often, it's keeping my breakfast foods and beer refrigerated.

We purchased an Edgestar. More capacity for less dollars. Operates with 110 volt & 12 volt as either a fridge or freezer and has a quick cool feature that cools to freezing in minutes and eliminates a pre-cooling period for the fridge mode. Placed it on a slide tray in the basement for easy access. Sorry that we didn't purchase it sooner.

We have a Whynter 65 Quart Portable Fridge/Freezer. Bought from Amazon, shipped from Home Depot. We love it. Run it 24/7 on Solar. It just works.

We have an Edgestar as well. My dog eats raw frozen so we carry his food and overflow from the freezer in the basement. Wired in a new 12V plug for it to run while on the road.

For weeks at a time and it never skips a beat.... We love it and it about 1/3 the cost of the unit your wife wants....

We had one in the '00 and '02 Dutch Stars. Really needed it then due to the small refer/freezer size. Got the Magna with a 22 Jenn Aire double door refer and DW still insisted we have the bay refer/freezer. Haven't even installed the wiring for it as we haven't filled the freezer up yet although with the DW's cancer we really can't go out anyway.

There are several of these. Dometic is a well known RV accessory maker. ARB makes these for the expedition market and it is a high quality unit. However if you really want the best quality (though you will pay for it) you should look at National Luna

Bay Freezers

We have an ENGEL freezer. Have used it since 2003. It has worked fantastically! We use it to store meats, bought on sale, fish caught, frozen vegetables for stew, etc.

Ours is 120/12 V. We run it off of 12 V. all of the time. We have to defrost it every 6 -- 8 months.

We bought it on sale at Big From Mountain or something like that. Cost just over $ 600 but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

We also have a slide that it comes out on. Indispensable!
