It's a significant change on effective gearing. If you don't mind the loss of power, then, no problem.

I saw this on a episode of ice road truckers. When they had rocks jamb between their duellies they did this. They tied a rope around the rock and the other end to the frame of the truck. Slowly drove forward and the rock pulled out.

That makes sense.

Another problem with SuperSingles is when you get a flat. First thing that hapens is your expencive Alcoa alluminum wheel will be trash when it hits the ground and with a single you cant limp-in very far of at all.

Mike,

Can you provide any info with respect to your statement. I don't doubt what your saying, only that on the surface, it doesn't sound right. Are there any web sites, mag articles, etc?

Thanks,

stik

You can buy a super single wheel and the bolt pattern will be the same. Like said when having a flat the rim will probably get trashed . I have seen them used on commercial trucks and trailers and they have caused alot of accidents when they blow out. When they blow they can cause a severe loss of control even on a trailer.

I run Super Singles on my ready mix truck. In the old days we switched them from duals with no adverse effect on axles. You have no idea what kind of damage can be done when one blows...it will completely remove a mixer fender as well as brake cans and anything else in its way. No to mention the sound that will age you several years. They do ride better though
