Is this the date of the tire 1974? I assume a tire can not last that long???

I believe that is the plant of manufacture. Find the DOT code on the other side of the tire.

Yes. It may be helpful to know the date code is the last digits at the end of the line that begins with "DOT" and that it is usually found on only 1 side of a tire.

Yeah, there were that many in a year but, budget constraints had to cut the extra week.

I can't say one way or the other. I only remember about 10-12 weeks of 1974.

The date code is at the far end of the characters following the letters DOT. This article will help:
