The only engines that even have bedroom access are the Cummins. Those also have extensive outside access by way of side and rear panels. There is seldom if ever a need for the tech to go inside the coach. Cat engines have no access from the bedroom. As far as odors, most class A's are so well built and sealed, there is never an issue with fuel smell coming into the bedroom. Of course my wife and I happen to be among those individuals who love the smell of diesel.(We go to truck stops and get a high). Also when traveling in the fall, on those chilly nights, the bedroom has a nice cozy feel from all that heat coming up through the floor. In the summer, it gives you an excuse to stop an hour or so early.

I had a Winnebago with a Cat 3126 diesel. It had under the bed access. You could open it up & sit on the top of the engine. This is to an engine specific issue.
