DP Newbie takes the plunge!
Hello all,
I have been lurking here for some weeks and finally pulled the trigger on a 2004 Newmar DS 4009 with 64k mi. Just arrived home (Delaware coast) from purchasing the coach in Illinois. The previous owner had maintained it very well. Quite a step from our previous RV's (Winnie View and a 34' TT). With 370 hp, loads of torque, Allison tranny, and Jake brake, I feel that I have reached the Promised Land. Of course, I haven't dished out for any $$$ major repairs yet. Pricing out "extended warranties" now, and I had engine oil analysis done through JG (Barney and Tom) prior to purchase.
Thanks to all on this forum who responded to my pesky questions.
Let the new adventure begin!

I'm sure you are going to really enjoy your new "home" on wheels!
Take your time learning all about your particular MH and how everything works.
I made a spreadsheet that lists everything in/on our MH that has a serial#, + a description. Following that are part#'s for most commonly used consumables. like filters, belts, lighting, etc.
I have it in the Microsoft cloud so I may access it from any computer terminal. This benefits me greatly, plus, if heaven forbid it is stolen, police might have an easier time tracing things when they have all those serial numbers and descriptions; and, I can prove to the insurance company those items were in/on the MH.

my '97 london aire has all that on the inside of one of the kitchen cupboards.. and again listed in one of the manuals in the several binders/// it is a good idea..

I think you'll love your '04 Newmar Dutch Star. We used ours for 8 years of full-timing and it performed very well in the western mountains. Enjoy!

It's an awesome plunge to take. This is our first rig we have had and it was a plunge also. We didn't do anything smaller just bought something used and large for room. Love it!
