Drivers Door

besides the winnebago adventurer what other units have a drivers door?
who here besides me has a drivers door?
why do you like/dislike it?

i like it because it is an emergency escape hatch and easier to exit for fuel stops.

i dont get in and out of the drivers door but it does come in handy. The step to get into the door is way too high and the foot step and hand grab just dont feel very safe. but its nice to be able to open and access the leveling controls from the outside when im setting up alone.

You need to talk about year as well as make/model. Few, if any, new gas Class A's have a driver door anymore. Not the Adventurer, nor the Tiffin Open Road nor the Fleetwood Southwind.

I've got one and will have one on the next MH; cannot live without it. Like you, fuel stops and second way out is a must have for me. I mean what if you break down on a narrow road and the guard rail is up tight to the passenger side and the door will not open? Or the stories about the patio door handle breaking? I know the some of the newer Newmar's have an emergency door but I don't know of any newer class A's with a driver's door. Anyhow, in two to three years we hope to upgrade to a 2012 Suncruiser with a driver's door.

2005 Georgie Boy Pursuit has drivers door option. Use as emergency exit/entry access. Also, useful when working under dash on drivers side.

On our 2000 DSDP 3865 we ordered the optional drivers door. When we ordered the 2002 4090 DSDP one wasn't an option nor a special.

Wife and I have discussed this topic and have agreed that if we ever move up to a Class A, it MUST have a driver's door, and ideally one for the passenger, too.

All motorhomes and trailers have a secondary emergency exit - it is legally required. Might only be a removable window, but there is a way to get out. If you don't know where yours is, or haven't made sure it still opens ok, find out NOW!

Got a drivers door on mine . Great for fuel stops and working under the dash. Also works good when leveling the coach (no autoleveling). I can just open the door and reach the leveling controls. Keeps the inside clean too , and I don't have to climb over the dog house to get in and out of the drivers seat.
