Drop Down Bed Over Cab

Greetings all. I've been researching for the last cpl yrs debating 5er vs class C vs Class A, gas vs diesel, new vs old & so on. Starting to get serious about purchasing to full time DP. DW & myself with an 11yr old (now) boy. I'll prbly gravitate to a pre-owned Country Coach or similar quality in the 34-36' length with slides. Don't like bunk options due to space & proximity to main bdrm, but want a permanent bed for the young lad. Very intrigued with the drop down bed such as found in the Thor Palazzo even tho it appears to have motor issues. Anyone know anything about possibilities of installing a custom system like that in an older coach?

The "Happi-Jac" is a drop-down fullsized bunk that has been installed in many RV's over the years in the salon (front or mid room) and in the garage of many Toy Haulers.

It is from Lippert, BUT IS NOT the Schwintek rack system from LCI seen currently in the front of several brands. See:
Welcome to HappiJac

Funny thing about LCI is that they only sell parts, retail. To acquire the entire bunk system requires a shop to order for you.

Best luck

Thx, that was a great help. Not sure the happy jack system would work for my application but went to youtube to check it out & a cpl other systems were shown that definitely would & can be custom fit & trimmed out as one pleases.

Brad,

We have a Fleewood Excursion 35C. It's a diesel, in about the size you specified and has a full, queen size drop down bunk. Our daughter really loved it. Put the curtain up and it's like a mini apartment. We've had zero problems with the power mechanism on the bunk. We bought a 5" memory foam mattress (queen size) and irs very comfortable. Much better than inflatable mattress that came with it.

If you like the Palazzo, you should take a look at the Excursion.
