Duff-Norton electromechanical actuator (bad)

I have a 2010 Newmar Ventana and my inside stairs will not work any longer.I took out the duff-Norton electromechanical linear actuator Model Lm100-1-S2 with a stroke of 125mm volts 12vdc capacity 100lbs. Mfg no. 61776-2841202
Serial no. L000020520070540 Does anyone know where I can purchase one of these besides Nemar? They want $360 for one. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks Ken

Take a look at, previous thread. I'd also expect that if you call Duff-Norton, they will provide you with a few names of your area distributors that will sell to you.

Thanks Bob I already talked to them but we're not any help with the little bit of information I was able to get out of them. The lady I spoke with was not concerned and was really short with me.
Thanks for the reply and may God Bless.
Ken

Did you look at this one from the earlier post? Mine simply came apart and failed so I put it back together with a reinforcing plate and it works fine.

Mine did not come apart, the gears stripped. The motor runs but it will not move in any direction. Took it apart and the plastic bushings and gears look bad.
Thanks Ken

This is a poor design with a relatively high failure rate. I am not sure why they are still used in this application. I replaced the one in my previous MH twice. You can get a knock-off linear actuator that fits perfectly on amazon.

About $56 here

Thanks A Million Bob. Just what I was looking for. I have been to about 100 sites and made about 50 phone calls with no luck. Newmar had one but wanted a arm & a leg & my first born. I can buy 7 of these for what Newmar wanted for 1.
Thanks Again And God Bless You And Your Family

Check Ebay also, I bought one to install on my bed lift so my wife could get under the bed with me having to lift the darn thing. Worked great.

Find a good machine shop, or water jet setup, and they should be able to cut some gears for you. Hopefully there are some good chunks left over to use as a pattern.

Maybe try RV salvage yards across the country. Also you have all the spec,s. You might be able to change brands, a good RV repair shop might be able to suggest a replacement. Good luck.
