Dutch Star shower door broke

I have a 2006 Dutch Star with a corner shower. The center shower door recently shattered (Due to a hard braking maneuver on my part and My wife standing next to it) very minor injuries to the wife. The other glass panels on either side of the door have a white wave like Pattern on them that looks like they are very thin decal material. Anyone know where I can get the decals to put on the new shower door?

We are currently volunteering in Yosemite and Fresno Ca is the closest big city.

The shower fiberglass base was made by C and C fiberglass of Bremen Indiana. Do you think they made the shower door also? Or should I just contact Newmar and ask them? ( I am A little concerned about their high prices)

Just because you call Newmar doesn't obligate you to buy the part from them. Are you sure the glass has a decal or is it etched in the glass? You could either buy a kit and do the etching yourself or take the door to a glass shop and have them do it.

Tempered glass can be etched, it can even be carved, as long as you don't go too deep into the surface. Carving can weaken the glass and make it prone to breaking more easily.

If it's acrylic, you could mask the clear area and use fine emery cloth to 'etch' the pattern you'd like.

Trying to match the other panels might be more difficult than creating a new design on the door. A mountain, tree, Dutch Star, etc. might be appropriate.

Many glass places here in fresno.

Contact San Joaquin glass on McKinley first aa they can get almost anything and prices fair.

Many rv places but glass is glass.

I am sure that the finish on the glass panels has some type of a decal that is made to look like etching. If I try real hard I can almost pull off a corner of it with a fingernail. it is pretty thin and holds on real well though! The broken glass had some of this Tape like material holding clumps of it together. I will give that glass company in Fresno a call tomorrow.

I'm in the process of replacing my glass shower door and panel with 1/8" thick Lexan. My wife is kind of claustrophobic and wanted clear panels instead of the frosted glass. The Lexan is unbreakable and as an added bonus should be a lot lighter as well.

Yes, they are a "decal". (Or at least that's what the ones in our '02 DSDP were). Newmar has them made. Best place to buy is direct from Newmar to assure that you get a matching one.
