DVD Surround Sound Replacement Recommendations

I have a 2008 Forest River Georgetown 373 with an old "Executive" brand DVD player that is hardwired to a surround sound with subwoofer.

I would like to have blu ray player with wifi. I would also like to keep my old hard wired surround sound because it sounds good and I don't want to have to dig out the satellite speakers from the roof. But I know that is most likely not feasible since everything is wireless these days.

At this point I am open to all recommendations since I am in the research stage.

Trickdog. I just did this replacement in my 2007 Journey this year. I had a "one-box" type DVD Player-Receiver in my unit. After looking at these "one-box" type offerings and the poor ratings they were receiving, not to mention you had to buy all the speakers too which are not needed, I decided to buy a separate receiver and Blu-Ray/DVD Player.

While I did have room for a lot of "footprint" for the recevier (length-width) I did not have a lot of height...and most receivers are pretty high. I purchased the Pioneer Slim Audio & Video Component Receiver Black (VSX-S520). It's only 2 3/4" high. The connections for my surround sound were identical to my old "one-box" system, just plugged my existing wires in. I did have to get an HDMI cable for TV to Receiver as the old system had the 3-wire system. Other inputs just plugged right in. It also supports wireless and 4K/upscaling. Link below so you can see pictures of, including detailed pic of the component connections on the back so you can be sure what can be connected and how.

You can then purchase the Blu-Ray/DVD player of your choice and connect via an HDMI cable.

The sound is fantastic!

I did use a heavy-duty velco to hold the units firmly to the shelf they are on in my cab overhead compartments so they don't bounce around. So far, so good.

Thank you USS ENTERPRISE! I like this option because I can use the old school hard wire for surround, add in my Dish Network HDMI, and stream music.

I love this forum!
