ECM/PCM

Hi all, have a Fleetwood terra ls 36ft GAS V10. having some issues with it. I get the little wrench light and check gauges light and the engine just shut down and leaves us stranded, after a while I can get it started and runs fine till I shut it off then it will not start, when I do get it to start runs fine till the next time, this morning finally got it started and the check engine lite came on and stayed on, so on our way from point A to point B today stopped at an Auto Zone and had them run a scan, came back with Code P0606 which indicates a fault in the ECM/PCM. my question is where is the ECM/PCM located? thanks

We had our ecm go out last year 1000 miles from home. The Ford dealer said good luck finding one. I searched everywhere and finally found a place in New York. Brand new on the shelf set up for the stripped chassis with the Ford v10. They overnighted it and we were on the way home in a day. It came tested and programmed with our vin. It's under the steering wheel.

Let me know if you need contact info. Reasonably priced also.

On my 1999, its between the brake pedal and the steering column shaft, about 6 inches up off the floor.

Its not related to your problem, but the link below shows some photos of where the ECM is located..

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I'm not a Fleetwood guy so can't answer your question.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I program gm, ford and dodge ecm's....every time I have seen P0606 I had to replace the ecm. Almost of all the ones I replaced where from people flashing them incorrectly on engine swaps. In general ecm's dont go out that often, only seen 5 actual bad ecm's in 16 years.

Glad to have you here in the forum with us. You're gonna like it here.

The P0606 code can be a couple of different things. Because the symptom is freeze framed a mechanic with a OBD-II will be able to identify the issue. It could be the ECM or simply a loose wire connection.

Happy Trails!!!

The contact info would be great. we are from Florida and at the present time we are in St Louis traveling. if you don't mind me asking, what were some of the simptoms when yours went bad. we have had it where the engine will shut down on the interstate and not restart. then after getting it towed home it started. then some times it would start and other times we would get the little wrench light and the Check Gauges msg. and not start. some of the latest are something is now draining the battery and have to use the aux start, and also get the ABS light now and then, and now the check engine light comes on. had codes read, show P0606

Flagship one INC in New York. 516-766-2223. Ours would just die driving down the road. Sometimes it would start back up and sometimes not. Finally it just would not start. I believe it cost us about $325 or so with expedited service. Give them the numbers on the ECU AND make sure that you tell them it is for a Ford stripped chassis for a motorhome. They will need your VIN. They test the new unit and program your VIN before they ship it. EXCELLENT service! BTW, Ford had 2 vehicles in their service lot for over 3 months unable to find a replacement ECU. I gave them the information and both vehicles left the lot finished by the end of the week.
