Electric awning motor removal

This may seem like a dumb question, but if the awning doesn't retract, how do you get to the motor to check it?

Brand and model of your awning would be helpful. My porch awning is a Carefree of Colorado Eclipse. The motor is on the forward end of the roller. There are contacts at the head that could be hooked to a 12 volt battery to operate the motor. Of course this all has to be done from the top of an 8 foot ladder. I'd call a mobile rv tech and fix it with my wallet. Good luck with solving your problem.

I actually meant to say the awning won't extend. The awning is the A&E Weather Pro. The motor is at the top and behind the arm on the right side of the awning. I just don't know how you are supposed to get the arm pulled out to get to the motor.

Maybe A&E website has information on how to do it.

Have you tried it from the control box (if you have the wind sensor)?

You might get some help here: http://www.rvtechlibrary.com/exterio...308058.001.pdf

I never liked my Weather Pro. Had many issues with it. I hope you get yours resolved quickly.
