Electric entrance door awning

We have a 2008 Camelot 42 with all Carefree of Colorado awnings including and electric one over the entrance door. I would not retract just as we were leaving for a two week trip so I had no choice but to cut off -UGGH!!!!!! I am now trying to get the guts out to replace whatever is broke - must be some type of gear. The problem is I do not see how to get the roller out as there are NO screws on the end caps. I have all the hardware off that extends the awning but cannot see how to get to the motor/gears/roller. I have absolutely NO literature/manual for this awning. In doing some searching it seem like the Marquois door awning has screws on the end cap so this is definitely not that one. The only other model I found in the searches is a Freedom but not literature or instructions for that model. I am attaching a couple of pictures in hopes that someone has had this same trouble and can give me some help. Thanks in advance. Jim Moody

Hi Jim. I have a 2008 Camelot 40' and had the same issue with my OTD awning. On mine, the end caps "popped off" using a screw driver and the palm of my hand, no screws. The plastic drive gear in the motor breaks so you will need the entire drive motor, not cheap. The newer version has a double metal drive gear so should last a while. The motor comes out toward the rear of the coach and was a bugger as my patio awning mounting arm was in the way. So I had to remove the mounting screws for the door awning and swing it up away from the coach to remove the motor. If you need further info PM me.

First I would have pushed it in and zipped tide it closed. Then you have time to diagnose the problem, power or motor. The motor is relatively simple to change just remove end cap unscrew motor and pull it out. I had similar problem except mine shot out running down the freeway like a bat wing. I zipped it closed and replaced motor when I returned home.
