Electrical Issue

I have owned my Monaco Sig 2005 for almost a year. In the last week, there are 2 sets of lights that turn on by themselves, the Vanity lights by the sink and the rope lights in the commode room ( separate rooms). It seems to happen most of the time in the middle of the night but also if I do not have any other electrical in use as when I am gone from the MH. If I leave the rope lights on then the vanity lights will not come on. I am plugged in to a 50amp service with a surge protector on. Any ideas other than to call an Exorcist? Any help would be appreciated.

You might try calling Monaco tech support. It could be a known gremlin. It sounds like it could be an issue with the multiplex that controls all the lighting and other 12 VDC circuits in the coach.

I agree with Steve O.

This is a multiplex issue which is a VERY complex system. If they go south it can get VERY expensive to recover from a major failure.

I am glad that I don't have one of those complex systems in my coach. If I did I am sure that a lot of my time would be spent trying to troubleshoot the problems that it causes.

Even the new Monaco won't have all of the answers because a lot of the information used back then has been lost due to the bankruptcy and sale.

I probably wouldn't have this coach either but my home flooded a year ago so I am full timing it now. I am fairly new to the RV lifestyle but am trying to learn. I assume the multiplex issue is like one's mother board on your computer failing BUT much bigger. Am I correct? I will try to research that answer on the internet but can you help me with the next step? Do I start with an RV mechanic or an electrician. I am afraid that I don't even have enough knowledge to talk wisely with Monaco. Any guidance?
Thanks
Anita

Anita,

Unfortunately, there are only certain places that are licensed to work on those "mother boards".

I sent you a PM with the name and email of a person who may be able to help you. He is a member of the Monacoers yahoo group.

I would also recommend joining the Monacoers group to get more useful information and files, etc. that are only available to members.

Don't worry about not knowing enough to ask the techs----I have asked Winnebago some pretty silly questions but they have always been more than nice and ready to help. I assume other coach's help centers would be the same.
