Electrical issue

This is a strange one, I don't know if anyone will be able to help but fingers crossed. The rv I purchased had only working high beams, no low beams. Upon inspection the headlight plug has 3 holes and the headlights has 3 prongs as well but one of the prongs was not plugged in on either side. I plugged it in and waalaa lights worked and all was well.

Later after many times in and out, I left to pick up my wife. Coming back I opened the door and on came my headlights?! They do not turn off I have tried, turning the lights on and off, turning the vehicle on and off, unplugging and plugging the lights back in they don't turn off!!

Idk if this has anything to do with it but there is a sensor looking thing installed at the bottom of the door frame, it looks rather broken, but I went in and out of the rv multiple times in between plugging them in and leaving to get my wife without them turning on.
Is this a miss placed fuse? That sensor that's broken? Bad wiring? Any info to help me figure this out? Thank you in advance.

The rv is a 95 four winds 30q with a Ford motor and chassis...

It sounds like it has a timer to hold the lights on for a minute or two after opening the door. I do not know that chassis but Ford has done that for a long time so it may go back that far. If that is the case I'd start by opening the door to trigger the timer. Close the door and give it 5 minutes on a clock. If the lights go off in that time you are dealing with a feature. If they do not you are probably dealing with a broken time delay relay in that vintage.

I think they still do that as a lot of folks like having the lights on so they can get to the door in the dark. OTOH it can be a PITA in a campground.

I guess I can give it more time I tried 2 mins and they didn't turn off so I have unplugged them for the night and I will work on it more tomorrow. Just strange that I went in and out a few times but maybe I just had the screen door closed or something...
