Engine fan wont shut off
I have a 2002 newmar 19000 miles cummins 350 side radiator with hydraulic driven fan. Fan stays on water temp. is fine A.C. is off wondering if any has run into this. Tired of hearing roar.

The "hot" wire is connected to the fan. The "ground" wire is connected to the sensor, which is screwed in the "block". When the block gets hot enough, the sensor closes the circuit, making ground, turning on the fan.
I would say the temp sensor is "closed", making "ground", so that the fan is "on". Replace the sensor.

Does it ever go off after cooling down radiator?
Notice never been on Newmar forum many there to answer you questions also.

What chassis do you have?
On my 2000 Spartan chassis, the hydraulic fan runs all the time, I adjusted my fan speed on the priority valve......but it runs all the time. Mine use to "roar" really load to.......I talked to the techs at Spartan about this, and they said to just watch the engine and tranny temps.
So I adjusted the valve and slowed the fan way down.............
You will have to look and see what kind of a system is on your chassis, or call the chassis mfg. with a vin. number and maybe they can tell you.

Thanks for the interesting input. It is on a Spartan chassis. Two Stroker looks like this could solve the problem except this fan has no electric or air controls. Palehorse 89 may have what I have direct drive fan stays on all the time could tell me where you found the fan speed adjustment Palehorse 89

Follow the hoses from the fan, they will lead you to the valve body with the priority valve sticking down off the block. Take the cap off the bottom of the valve(o-ring on the cap) and find the right size Allen wrench that fits the needle valve, screwing it inward(clockwise) will slow the flow of oil to the fan, I adjusted mine with the engine off........a little oil came out when I took the cap off........I did the adjusting, put the cap back on, then started the engine.......I repeated this procedure several times before I liked the speed of the fan. The roar on a idle was gone. Hope this helps you out!

If your 2002 is the same as my 2005, there is no manual adjustment. The fan speed is controlled by the ECM.
Does your motor look like this?
There is a solenoid on the side of the hydraulic motor that determines the speed by the voltage supplied to it by the ECM. The fan will default to full speed if it receives no voltage. I had the same problem with mine running full speed all the time. It took the techs 16 hours to find a broken wire between the ECM and the fan motor.
Works perfectly now and my mileage went up almost 2 mpg.

X2 with HicksRA. In my case it was a loose connector to the AC sensor. A good tech with the "insite" program can pinpoint the exact reason for your fan problem.
