Funny...but I don't recall any thread that said to replace this or that, just those offering suggestions on a variety of things related to uninitiated starting....or did I miss something?

And although I didn't mention it before, this is an intermittent problem. Sometimes, everything works fine.
Not really any further along with my problem, but here is what I have found.
I cannot find the solenoid that sends the signal to the starter. I did disconnect the “S” lead at the starter to make sure that it was the right one. When removed, the engine would not turn over, as expected. I measured the voltage at the “S” lead when disconnected, and only got about .5 volts?? I assume that should be 12 volts when the key is in the start position. The Diplomat manual mentions a solenoid as follows:
"House Disconnect and Starter Solenoid:
• Solenoid interfaces start signal to Cummins starter.
• Solenoid interrupts DC power to the house fuse panel.
• Four post solenoid with isolated coil.
• Located in high and low current plates."
Now, I am not sure if they are talking about two different solenoids, or one that serves a dual purpose. I have found the Salesman switch solenoid in the compartment below the driver’s seat. It activates when the switch inside is thrown. This solenoid does nothing, as far as I can tell, when the starter is engaged with the key.
I also would like to know why there are two, large gauge wires at the starter connected to the same post? And, the “S” lead is really big, about ¼” in diameter?
Anyway, I seem a little stuck for now.

I wanted to report back what problems I found regarding my starting issue.
First, as many here have suggested, I do have a starter relay/solenoid on the coach. This is what the large gauge wire on the “S” terminal of the solenoid/bendix is connected to. The reason I couldn’t trace where it went to was that it goes into a large bundle, and disappears into the unknown. In truth, it only disappears for a few feet, and emerges into an enclosure located just above the inverter in the rear passenger side compartment. I have never had the cover off of this area, and always thought it was for house electrical. I was wrong and it has 3 solenoids/relays, and 3 high amp fuses/breakers.
I have to say that the reason I reported that I was getting almost no voltage at the starters “S” terminal, turned out to be that my multi meter went belly up. That made trouble shooting all of this very hard.
Anyway, I found the right solenoid and tested it in various ways. It hung up a few times (which explained why the starter wasn’t disengaging). I did this with both the key, and using a jumper direct from the battery. After jumping it 100 or so times, it stopped hanging up at all. I couldn’t get it to stick on again after that. To me that means the contacts were likely corroded and exercising it that many times likely cleared the problem, at least temporarily.
I have order two new solenoids, and will change this one out if it continues to fail intermittently, and keep the other as a spare.
Thanks for all the help from you guys. I always seem to be pointed in the right direction by you folks.

Always nice to hear someone has found the problem. Good on you.
As far as the solenoid, I would be replacing it now. Maybe hang onto the spare for future use, but if the one that stuck before does it again, you may very well be looking for another starter!
Good Luck.

I would have preferred to put a new one in at our current location also, but I could only find the part online. All local sources couldn’t even find the part or cross reference? So, since I only have to start the coach two more times before getting to a destination where I have had things shipped to (my Daughters home), I thought I would just chance it. Now that I know exactly what is happening, and can tell immediately if it happens again, I should be ok until we get there.
