I find mine extremely useful. I set it to monitor coolant temp, boost pressure, transmission temp and MPG Avg all the time. It gives you exact readout on the coolant temp where the analog gauge just gives an approximation.

Here's my screen. I have a combination of different types of gauges, some showing quick to read green/yellow/red summaries, some showing details, fuel and trip guages, etc. I have two sections where warning and error messages can post. The warning messages I've predefined when a parameter meets a certain level. The other section captures any engine/transmission/brake error codes.

Nice! Tell me about the TST, as I have one. How does this get data from the TST sensors??

That TST data is just a text field, which I put in to remember the air pressure the tires are supposed to be at, and where I have the TST parameters set.

VMSpc doesn't interface to the TST system, but does interface to some other TPMS system, which I don't remember which one. If you go to the Silverlake website and download their manual, it'll tell you which TPMS system. I already had the TST system.

Then you need a PC or Tablet to run the application and display.

Have had a VMSpc since sometime between 2000 and 2002. When we traded for the 2002 DSDP I had to buy a different connector but it was still in use when we traded the '02 DSDP off last year. At the last I was running it on a 10" Acer Netbook.

Don't think you will find any data on the "Silverlake" website. You will find info here SilverLeaf Electronics, Inc. | Knowledge is Horsepower

Right now, Silverleaf is using the Dornan Pressure Pro system interface

I have the ScanGuageD and like it. Worth the money for the info it provides. Sells for about $160 at Advanced Auto and others.

Using VMSpc on a Android tablet

Has anyone been able to use the VMSpc software with a cheap android tablet and been able to charge the tablet and get the data on it at the same time? I think most tablets only have one mini USB port.

It's been done and there is a special adapter to use for charging, etc.

There should be a thread that you can search for on this forum.

Been using Scanguage D for several years. Very happy. Tells me all I need to know about things I can do anything about: engine temp, trains temp, oil pressure, alternator. Other reading available at push of a button. Trouble codes stored. I really can't have much impact on other problems other than capturing error code for repair facility. Already have too much to pay attention to while driving; don't need an additional computer screen to monitor. Just MO.

Luckily there are a few choices of engine monitoring devices for people to select from so people can choose what works BEST for them.

gasser MH monitoring...?

I see DP's use this equip. all the time on this website.

We are getting ready to buy a new Rambler 32a, which has the new Ford Chassis with the 6 speed tranny. Do they make similar systems like this for new Gas MH's and in your opinion would it provide any more useful info than is necessary besides the normal gauge cluster? Or is this Scan type of monitoring just for DP's?

Yes ScanGauge has a system for gas rigs. I have one in my toad. I highly recommend it for your new F53 chassis. Fords gauges are more like glorified idiot lights.

Engine monitoring

I've had my Scangauge D for about a year, but I just got around to installing it. While I'm looking forward to seeing a little more information while driving, I'm concerned that the display is on even when the engine is shut off. I can't seem to find a way to turn off the display. I realize it's a very small current draw, but is there a way to turn off the display?
