Engine Quits

Problem: When cold, engine starts and runs for a few seconds, then quits. Starting procedure, turn key till all green, then turn key to hit starter and engine starts right up. No problem here. But engine quits, after a few seconds. This problem started a few months ago. I have to wait for a couple of minutes then crank the engine a few times before it will start. Then is runs normally. No puddles under engine, so no leaks. Sounds like I have a air lock, but not sure. That is way Iím asking for help. All maintenance has been performed. Unit: Gulf Stream SVB, Engine is a 1999 Cummins 275hp.

It's just a guess, but you mite have an a injector leaking this would leave air space in fuel line so when you start it would start but the pump wouldn't be able to keep with the loose of fuel.I'am just guess it takes may be 3 time be for she starts running good. To check if this is happening check your dip stick to see if the oil is thin or if it smells of diesel;if this is the case get the oil changed and if you want to take the valve covers off if the injector is leaking;there will be clean of oil.So good luck; but don't ignor this could cost you 12,000 to replace. leadfooot said this
