Engine Warning Light

Guys I own a 2006 county coach inspire with a cat C9 engine. After driving at highway speeds between 55 and 60 for about an hour I get a engine warning light on my dash. I check the water temperature and it about 180 with no signs of over heating. The engine powers down and I'm able to go about 40 to 45 mph without problem. The coolant is about three quarters full I also get a stop engine light on the dash but it didn't flash if I kept my speed below 45. Could this be a sensor problem or maybe air filter

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Driving home from Camping World. They replaced levelers on front and fuel filters and seperator. I pulled over shut her down, restarted and the light and buzzer was gone. Stayed off the rest of the way home. I am going to hang around this thread to see what answers you get. Mine is Cummins ISB, Allison 3000, Spartan chassis.

It will also do that if it gets low on oil.

Is there some other indication that it's a over heating condition? There are many other things that could cause a warning light. Fuel filter, air filter and on and on.

The only way to get the real answer is to check the ECM at a Cat dealer. I run the SilverLeaf and after running an hour my coolant temp is around 194deg to 205deg. You should be able to hear the fan come on plus my gauges are running a lot hotter about 10-15degs than the SL. Did you check the air filter indicator on the left side at the rear of the motor to see if it is in the yellow.
When was the last oil change and fuel filter change, hyd filter change for the fan and steering, could be a lot of things.
Keep us posted
You could also go over to the Country Coach forum on Yahoo and ask there also.

Had the same problem on 2006 Inspire 360. No codes on ECM, engine running well and all gauges in normal range. light lasts a few seconds and goes out.

Does not happen every day.

Cat guys found nothing.

This could be a thousand things on the C9.

It could be:

Wastegate Solenoid
Oil Lift
Fuel Filter
Wastegate stuck open
Wastegate stuck closed
Turbo taking a dump
Plugged exhaust lines
Cooling fan

You'll need to go to a cat shop and let them hook up their computer. Bad part is their codes can be ambiguous, but it would be a starting point for everyone here that knows cats to help further.

Can you get the code and post it for us?

mine had same problem with stop engine lite coming on after a year and many techs and money later with no help from cat with their diagnostic assessment.the problem was after I found a smart mechanic first change air, fuel and separator filters if needed.problem was it was overboosting through the turbo not opening the gate valve to let out excess pressure replaced the sensor that operates this valve which he changed in 10 minutes mine is located on the top of engine on my c7 cat 330 hp part was$135.00 most important to check boost power rv has to be under load taken to 70 mph hooked up to laptop to monitor the boost on mine was 28 psi should be 25 psi and that is why my stop engine lite was coming on because of over boosting now I just had the one lite come on and all the other gauges oil temp ,etc was normal.anyways check this first before replacing expensive parts

hi me again going under 50 mph my lite never came on that it's critical to check boost power at higher speeds
