Ernie, Denny, and others who have installed either or both, a few questions
First, our coach is a 2004 Winnebago Journey 36G, with a flush floor slide in living room. We travel with 9 dogs...seriously. All are house trained, but that does not stop accidents, and they definitely do a number with claws. Our current carpet is in pretty bad shape and flooring will be happening soon.
- How does the engineered wood hold up to claws? Pet Urine?
- How does the Karndean LVT/LVP? Looking at glue down.
- I know engineered wood does not need as much leveling on the metal to wood transition at the Winnebago cab transition, but what is used for leveling under the LVT?
- Slides, three questions. First, I know the Winnie uses a skid system. I've seen that Ernie advocates using extra pieces of LVT to protect the floor during retraction. Does this mean NOT replacing the skid shoes with the carpeted skids that are available from Winnebago?
Second, from studying the pics of previous installs, it appears the best way to handle the flush slide is to add an extended plywood underfloor to the slide and use a stair nose for the edge, essentially making the slide a "float over" rather than flush floor?
Third, bedroom slide--I haven't seen any methods for how people are facing the bedroom slide. The interface is so small, I'm thinking of leaving it as carpet, but would be interested in what folks are doing.
