Entrance Door.

Has anyone ever changed their old RV entrance door with a larger one? We have a 2003 Hurricane. It has the rounded top door. I ordered a door and it was bigger than what the old one was. I ask the people exactly how to measure it and they told me and I measured and so did my daughter. The door is too large. I was wondering if you can make the opening larger and put this new door in. Or do I have to have a special made door that will cost $1000.00 to replace the older damaged one? Any help will be appreciated.

There are studs around for the frame to mount to. You're talking about major reconstruction.
There are still plenty rounded top doors available.

Everyone I talked to said it had to be special made. With the door out you can see metal framing on the inside about 1 1/2 wide. Do you have any idea where you can buy a door with the round top to it?

When my MH was new, we had a rounded frame front passenger door. Lot of wind noise and rattle. GeorgieBoy replaced under warranty with a sturdier square outline door. Installation (door, screen door and frame)) was done at the dealer, did not seem like a major evolution. Door was from PTL Engineering. No idea of the cost... Quiet, tight.. inside opening measurement 27x82-1/2 Model number has faded..
