Entrance Door in Front or Mid Coach?

Which do you prefer? Is the door mid coach allowing the coach to be structurally stronger or is it the door in the front like a bus?

Just wandering as most of the coaches dated 2006-2010 seemed to have the door up front and then from 2010-2015 the door seems to be in mid coach.

We are searching hard for a new MH and that is how we discovered this kind of trivia.

I prefer a mid door because the front door interferes with the front passenger seat .

I never understood the design change that put the door in the front. I suppose with the mega-kitchens being put into coaches now, you can have one uninterrupted wall of cabinets and you can put it on a slideout without having to worry about a door.

Personally I don't thing we could ever be happy with a mid door after having the front door.
Really like having the uninterrupted wall space.
But that's just us, glad they make both!

The number 1 complaint we had,on diesel pushers, at our shop was air noise at the front door. I used to tell everyone I liked my mid door because it did not have any noise coming from it. Then one day my wife was driving and I sat down next to the door and was amazed at the noise coming from it. Both doors have air leaks, it's just that you are far away from the center door and don't hear it. I prefer the center door because you are inline with the passenger seat (You don't have to turn to see the passenger) and you can't hear the noise around the door.

I always thought the door location was dictated by the chassis design. On gas units a front door would interfere with the suspension. On DP units there is nothing to interfere with the front door location. By moving it to the front it gives additional basement storage and allows the 4th slide.

At least this is my thoughts.

We looked at 2013-2015 DP and they all had the front door location. Are you looking for gas or diesel?

We have had both but we love the front door location in our 2015 DP because we get a full wall slide plus the uninterrupted wall space, gives us 3 slides and a very large mid-basement storage!

I prefer the forward door, as long as the coach has the switch-operated step cover!

Seems to me most DPs have front doors, most gassers have mid doors.

Have a diesel pusher and have a mid entry door and prefer it due to my handicap. There is nothing in the way when getting in or out.

I was at the Tampa RV show last week and looked at several dozen DP's, don't remember seeing a mid-entry. I did test drive an Endeavor years ago with mid-entry, did not care for it, seem to make the living area feel chopped up.

Thor Palazzo is one that jumps to mind. Also, at the other end of the spectrum Newell offers a mid door as a option.
