Eternabond repair

I'm planning on using Eternabond around my two roof vents. The only problem is that the roof vent covers are secured using bolts and nuts. The bolts are facing up from the roof. This means I would have to puncture holes in the Eternabond to make it work.

Would this still seal correctly?

I did what you suggest around my vent, air horns, antenna, etc. If I were to do it again, I would use dicor self leveling to seal around these and eternabond on the flat straight seams. I found it difficult to get a good looking seal around the round items with the tape. But it did stick well.

I agree with C-PHartley. Eternabond is great stuff, but it is best used for flat surfaces and patching holes. If you have really wide tape, you may be ok around the vents, but the Dicor sealant will spread itself out and works great too

We used the Eternabond putty tape on areas that had irregularity to them. So far it has worked very well. But I would have to agree with C-PHartley and jdoran1973 on the use of Dicor instead. I didn't read up on the Dicor until after I had finished my roof repairs.

They make this for sealing the area you want to do. I used it several years ago and the stuff still looks new - I really like it:
EternaCaulk High-Performance Sealant

I also use eternabond tape - it is great for flat surfaces. If you order the caulk, also get a roll of tape to save on shipping.

Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant seems to be the major RVer's choice. I've just never used it so I can't comment on it.

I used eternabond on the straight seams and Dicor self leveling lap caulk on the vents...

I have pictures! Before, after and the eternabond seam...
