But probably does have a DPF - which is what the high-temp re-gens are for.

I have a 2011 chassis with a 2010 motor and it has EGR & DPF, but no DEF.

All these TLA's are confusing. (three letter acronyms).

This is in fact a standard exhaust tip. We bought out current coach new and this is what came on it from Freightliner. Our engine is the 425 Cummins. Supposed to be used when the system goes into regen to achieve the right temp to make the particulate matter burn.
Does it have back pressure? or even work? I have no idea but it will get pretty darn hot

Exhaust Tip

Our 2009 Triple E QSDP built on a 2008 Freightliner XCR chassis with a Cummins ISL 400 HP engine was purchased new with this exhaust tip as standard equipment. As mentioned previously, I understand it is part of the "original" DPF system to help maintain, to protect surrounding structures, and to facilitate personal safety from the high EGT required for the process to be effective. IMO it would be worthwhile to discuss any contemplated change with Freightliner and/or Cummins just to be fully informed regarding any possible unanticipated consequences...

So who has switched out these tips and does the chrome dis-color on the new tip? I know newer units are not all like this and the chrome must be holding up OK.
