Question Expand opening angle of entrance door

We have a 2010 Fleetwood 34B A class. The entrance door into the RV does not fully open to 90 degrees. I would guess about 70 degrees. Makes it difficult to carry trays of food and gear in and out as you are always having to tip it slightly or go in sideways. Is there a way of expanding the strut on the door to allow it to open further? Could it just need greasing? or does it need to be replaced?

Thank you!

A friend of ours has the door with the pneumatic strut on it. His opens to maybe 90 but it still feels cramped (i'm not a big person either) going in and out the door. Personally, i'd remove the thing and install a doorstop/holder if it was on our rig.

Edited to add,, I just took a look at some images of the Fleetwood 34B and see there's a chance the awning arm is right next to the door. If that's the case, then the 70 may be there to keep the door from hitting it.

My entry door strut used to open to 90* until a huge wind caught it and bent the bracket such that it opened to about 105* which interfered with the awning arm. I removed the strut which flung the door open and made it hard to close. In place of the strut I had planned to use a fabric strap, but I really enjoy opening the door much wider than 90* and it easily opens and closes now.

You might try removing one side of the strut temporarily and see what issues that creates so you can see what your options might be.
