Expected fuel mileage for a Diesel Motorhome

From a Motorhome with a Ford v-10?
Is there anything that can be done to improve it w/o invalidating the warranty?

If you get better than 8, then you are doing good. As far as improvements, slow down, reduce weight by not traveling with full tanks, easy on the throttle. Don't use cruise control when in hilly country.

Our 2002 37' coach with Ford v10 would get 6.something. 60mph typical cruise speed. Easy stop/start. Not much one can do other than good maintenance and conservative driving.

As already mentioned, keep your speed down, let it slow down some when climbing a hill to avoid unnecessary downshifts and high rpms, accelerate slowly when possible. I have an Ultragage installed on my 2002 Holiday Rambler, 8.1 workhorse, and it is amazing to see how a slight change in throttle makes a huge difference in MPG. You can install an Ultragage and monitor many parameters (up to 8 on each screen) and it will make you more mindful of how your right foot affects mileage. The gage simply plugs into your ALDL plug under the dash.

On a recent road trip through Northern California, Oregon, Idaho and Montana we averaged 7.5 according to the MPG tool on the GPS. That was hilly country, running no faster than 65, 37foot Itasca with an 1800 toad. That is pretty consistent for us.

6 to 8 mpg is pretty much what you an expect. Keep your speed under 65 mph, do not use cruise control in the hills, and start up slowly,

WE had a v-10 motorhome and got about 8 mpg when towing a small car and speed kept around 62 or 63 MPH.

Should have asked this earlier, in my question on gas motorhomes. Most said 6-8 for gas. What about you diesel owners?

Our previous '02 Dutch Star with ISC 350/1050 and Banks kit 435/1200 got between 7 and 8. The GVWR was 34,000#'s. Our present rig with 650 ISX has averaged 7.6 over it's 45,000 mile life with a GVWR of 54,000#"s.

Fairly wide range and heavily dependent on the speed driven, terrain and skill of the driver. I would say from a low of around 6 for coaches over 45k pounds & engines over 12 liters to 9-10 for coaches under 26k pounds & engines around 6-7 liters.

Speeds under 65 and a driver who pays attention are important.

We got between 7-8 as well on our 04 Endeavor with a ISC-330 HP, and our 09 Camelot with the ISL-425 gets about the same! Regards

We have a '08 Itasca Ellipse with a 400hp/1200tq Cummins ISL. It's 40' and about 32k lbs loaded. I've done two long trips, totaling a bit over 4000 miles. On average I'm at 6.5-7.1 mpg. I drive 5 over the speed limit, so 75mph in a lot of California, and 65-70 anywhere else. Keep my foot to the floor going up grades at 55mph. Pretty much have the throttle to the wood wherever I go.

I have noticed if I were to drive 62mph for instance, my coach computer tells me 8-9mpg is possible. I just can't get there having been born and raised in California. You're a road hazard at 62 it seems.
