We purchased a new 2014 Bounder 35K in October and after a month of ownership we decided to purchase a 7 year service plan from Wholesale Warranties. It's the first time we purchased a service plan, with all the different systems on board we felt it would make us sleep better at night knowing we had it there if we needed it. I do consider it an insurance plan, something you pay for, never knowing if you'll need it or not.
Some things we learned during the buying process was that while the Bounder has a 1 year bumper to bumper warranty, many items have longer warranties. For example the Onan generator has a three year warranty, however their warranty does not cover the labor cost to remove and re-install the generator, only for the repair. We were told by WW that this plan would then cover where the manufacturer's warranty lacks, so they would then pay to have the generator removed and replaced. That's just one example as there are other manufacturer warranties that have some laps of coverage, some with parts only warranties.
We decided to purchase the service plan now rather than in one year because buying now includes coverage for gaskets and seals as well as audio and video equipment. In one year that coverage would not be included. We also bought now because the cost now for a seven year plan was cheaper than a four year plan on a three year old coach.
Again, it's 'insurance' that we like knowing we have in case we ever need it. We also have roadside assistance, we don't mind paying those premiums either while hoping to never have to use the service.
