Extended warranties

My husband and I have just bought our first MH a Tiffin Allegro. We now have to decide what extended warranties we should take out! Didn't know if there was any sage advice from experienced RV owners.

I don't know if there are any Sages here but I know your going to get advice out the wazoo. I can only tell you what I have and that is no extended warranties. I would rather save my money for what actually does go wrong instead of fighting with insurance company about what they didn't cover....

Welcome to irv2. There are many opinions on this. Just type in Extended Warranties in the search box and you'll see them all.

I agree no extended warranty. We spent $5000.00 at CW and all they do is deny claims against a plan that was to completely wrap the MH. So far I would have been at least $4500 ahead if I did not purchase it.

I purchased a 2013 from Camping World last April. Have not gotten extended policy and do not think I will after seeing the prices of them. Put the same amount in a account and save yourself money.

Denniscw, I have a cousin that lives in Cumming.

And on the other hand ours has more than paid for itself with another 2 1/2 years remaining on it. It depends on who the warranty company is and what type of warranty you purchase. Ours is the Platinum Plan from Xtra Ride.

So, like Cliff said, there are many different opinions on this. All I can do relate our own experience. We just recently had a lot of work done including replacement of all our slide seals. The only thing we were turned down on was that Xtra Ride only covered some of the seals. They did cover the majority of the repair though.

If you decide to buy one, check out Interstate Star if it is offered by your dealer. I have been very happy with them and they have paid every claim so far. I have recovered 3 times what I paid for the warranty. I bought the 7 year policy at the time of purchase. I don't know if I will purchase another one when this one expires.
