Extended Warranty.

Has anyone have an extended warranty insurance company they could highly recommend? I've heard negative things about Good Sam, though I hate to hear that.

This question is asked quite often. Lots of people will tell you to self insure and create a budget item for future repairs. I have Interstate Star and am very happy with it. I have used it 4 times without a problem. I have come to believe that a lot of the problems with warranty plans is the shop you use and not the plan itself. That of course is just my opinion.

You are looking for information on "service policies" not "extended warranties" A warranty can only be offered by the manufacturer of the vehicle, everything else is an insurance policy with lots of fine print.
We choose to self insure and we're way ahead of the game due to it.
Remember the insurance company is in the business to make money, not to pay out more than they take in. Lots of people have been left with no insurance when the company folded. Some even financed the policy and are paying on it long after the company went under.
If you do buy one, read the fine print very carefully BEFORE you pay and also remember that the seller usually has a 50% profit margin on it.

We have the RV Shield extended warranty (service plan) and have been satisfied with the service. RV Shield is sold by a number of brokers and some RV dealers, sometimes under various names.

Here's a link to their brochure, but I don't have a list of sales agents.

Whether it is a good idea to have such insurance is another question that has been debated endlessly here. Use can use SEARCH to find those discussions.

I can tell you NOT to buy a plan from Jay Plus. They have seriously screwed me over so I cancelled my policy with them and will get most of my money back fortunately. Sorry I can't tell you to use though.

Best of Luck.

I've just had my cooling unit replaced on my Norcold refrigerator and Good Sam paid over $2,300 and I paid $100. They also paid to have my u-joints replaced on my DP. I cannot complain about their service. Mine has been worth the money.

The Good Sam ESP covered most of the expenses on a major repair this summer on my RV. I'll recommend them but others will not.

Definitely search the forum, it has been discussed many times and there is a ton of good information comparing the various companies as well as comparing exclusionary polices to inclusionary.

I have had both RVShield and ExtraRide and both were very good on claims.
