F53/Workhorse W series vs UFO vs entry/mid level DP

Hi folks,

Has anyone driven all 4 types of coach and can compare the ride and handling.

I drove a 2004 4 speed F53 for 2 years on a 20,500lbs chassis, (5 star tune new tires, alignment,CHF and steering stabilizer). I test drove a 2013 5 speed f53 and it did run a bit nicer than the 2004. I also test drove a 2005 W24 and that was better than both f53's. The UFO I have driven about 3000 miles and its far nicer than the others (got an aligment and Koni shocks). I have not driven a DP.

For me the UFO is far better than the others.

Thanks,

I have owned or driven all of the above, and agree with you. Just don't try a big DP unless you have some extra $$$$!

A UFO is an unidentified flying object observed in the sky that is not readily identified. Most UFOs are later identified as conventional objects or phenomena. The term is widely used for claimed observations of extraterrestrial craft.

Silly..... You don't drive a UFO you fly it.
Their seats are more comfortable for long trips.

I own a 2018 on the new f-53. Previously owned a 2014 on an 5-53, five star tune on both.

previously owned a 2000 winnebago on a gm chassis.

I wish GM still made the 454, they miss out on a lot of business. A very good motor and trans, but part of their demise is the rotten parking brake setup.

A hydraulic motor that runs to keep pressure on the system that engages when an electric switch on the dash is pulled which turns on a solonoid that allows the hydraulic pressure to transfer to the brake to disengage the brake shoes on a drum on the driveshaft.

All of these components operating under the chassis in the dust and rain. Mine failed in an interstate construction zone and again on a 2 lane mountain road at 5 a.m. After weeks of work I found out it was corrosion on a contact on the solenoid.

If I bought an rv with the 454 I would be happy with the power but would convert it to a manual brake, kits are available

A ufo is a workhorse rear engine gas chassis.

After our early F53, we're on our second DP, a 45 foot Entegra.

There is simply no comparison to any front engine leaf spring motorhome, period
