Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone had an extra/old self contained wall receptacle that has the fastener which holds the receptacle to the wall? I took off a wall receptacle to snake wiring for the movement of my tv and the fastener fell off in the wall. You can only buy the whole receptacle. I may have to do that but if I can find just the fastener that would be great. i have also called several salvage yards.

Something I'd like to know too. I'm sure you could make some if you have a block of plastic and a band saw, but I don't have that tool anymore.

If your'e talking about the box that holds the receptacle,they are available at Lowes or HD,called a remodelers box About $1.50

if you buy the metal, old work electrical boxs from home depot or lowes. don't buy the ones where the wings collapse. when they collapse it pushes the sides of the box inwards and you can't get the box back out of the wall. buy the other one where the wing stay parallel when sliding in the wall and then swing out. or if you have room use the plastic, old construction boxs. or look for eletrical boxs built for mobile homes, a lot of them are built so you can take them out of the walls.

There are metal pieces (I can't remember what they are called) shaped like the letter F that you slip beside the box and bend the legs of the F into the box. The box has to have the bracket on the top and bottom to keep it from pulling back into the wall.

I have a couple of RV receptacles kicking around. I'm in calif though.
would take a few days to get to you.

Oh ya guys, he's not talking about a residential style receptacle. Your talking about and old work box with will not work with an RV receptacle

I am talking about the RV wall receptacles, not a residential outlet used in a home. I need the one with the fastener to hold it in place. If I can get a fastener I would appreciate.
